| February 6, 2008 An Important Message From the Dean, Deborah German, M.D. The exciting news we’ve all been waiting for has arrived! College of Medicine is Granted Preliminary Accreditation As you know, a review team for the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) visited our facility in December to study our College of Medicine. The LCME met in Chicago this week and, based on the review team’s report, voted to grant the University of Central Florida College of Medicine preliminary accreditation. We are delighted with the outcome. I personally couldn’t be happier or more proud of everyone who helped make this happen. All have worked to exceed my highest expectations. The LCME’s report cited our College as having noteworthy achievements. The report said that UCF’s plan for the College of Medicine is worthy of emulation in the way it uses university resources, particularly in information technology, knowledge management, simulation technology, software development and faculty development. In addition, the report cited our potential to serve as a national model in knowledge management and assessment systems. We at the College would like to thank the UCF community and the people of Central Florida for making this an extraordinary beginning for our new medical school. I hope we can all remember that "This is not a sprint, but a marathon." Now we must concentrate on preparing for our Charter class of medical students and finalizing our high-profile scholarship program. We have only just begun the task of creating a great College of Medicine. Deborah C.
